Songs for Amy
‘Songs for Amy’, directed by Konrad Begg, is a darkly comedic love story, inspired by the music scene of the west of Ireland. The film is set against the stunning background of County Galway, Ireland. It is aimed at male and female audiences of a broad age range.
The story follows Sean O 'Malley (Sean Maguire) , a struggling Galway musician who writes an album for the love of his life, Amy (Lorna Anderson) in the hope of redeeming hismself. The album takes him on roller-coaster journey of friendship, love, loss, music, hope and unexpected turns where he is both helped and hindered by his misfit band mates.
Produced by Sonny and Skye Productions, ‘Songs for Amy’ has a fantastic ensemble cast with Sean Maguire in a break through role, Lorna Anderson (River City), Barry Ward (Silent Witness), Ross Mac Mahon, Ford Kiernan (Still Game, Field of Blood), Rock Band ‘Alabama 3’ (as themselves), Patrick Bergin (Sleeping with the Enemy, A Kiss and a Promise), James Cosmo (Braveheart, Game of Thrones), Kevin Ryan (Copper), Gavin Mitchell (You Instead), Alexandra Weaver (The IT Crowd), Olwyn Boyle and Julie Addy.

'Songs for Amy' held their world premier at Newport Beach Film Festival to an overwhelming positive US response. Both screenings were sold out, the film ranked 4th out of 400 on audience buzz and also won the Jury Award for 'Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking.' The festival described the film as 'Embodying the true spirit of independent film and great cinema.'
'Songs for Amy' held their European Premier at the Galway Film Fleadh to another sell out screening, selling out within a record 24 hours. HOT PRESS magazine desribed the film as 'Incredibly funny', 'The Irish feel good hit of the year' and 'charming, offbeat and darkly comedic love story'. The UK Premier was held at the Glasgow Film Festival where 'Songs for Amy' was one of the fastest films to sell out and sold out both screenings.
